Huawei Technologies announced the successful development of its 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) prototype. This represents another breakthrough for Huawei following the company's launch of a 100G wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) prototype.
The 100GE technology provides a high-speed Ethernet interface to provide a complete end-to-end transport solution for operators that can support large-capacity data services. The current boom in broadband services has placed significant bandwidth demands on transport networks and existing 40G WDM technology which is currently widely-deployed on a commercial basis in many networks around the world.
According to Christian Chua, president of Huawei Transport Network Product Line, Huawei will continue to focus on customers' needs and to strive to alleviate the bandwidth pressure caused by ultra-broadband services. |
