Apple, this week, updated its Apple Store Web site in Hong Kong saying that iPhone enthusiasts can purchase unlocked iPhones for use on any network available in the region.
The phone can be used with any of the Hong Kong carriers, as the statement on the website say: "iPhone 3G purchased at the Apple Online Store can be activated with any wireless carrier. Simply insert the SIM from your current phone into iPhone 3G and connect to iTunes 8 to complete activation."
Offering free shipping, the 8-gigabyte phone goes for 5,400 Hong Kong dollars (roughly USD 695) while the 16-gigabyte version costs 6,200 Hong Kong dollars (roughly USD 798).
