Indonesian Blogger Still Prospective

 

 

Blogger community in Indonesia had been shocked with the adjustment as a deface actor of Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology website. As a reaction from this adjustment, Indonesian blogger gives an advice to held an open dialogue to clear this issue.

Regarding this issue, Enda Nasution, one of Indonesian blogger and Chief of Committee Pesta Blogger 2007 said, Indonesian blogger is various. Indonesia currently has the best climate for free expression, including on internet and that consist of bloggers as well," Nasution said.

Currently, Nasution adds, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar has problem with cyberspace freedom of expressions and with bloggers in their countries. He said, Indonesia is the best one regionally. For comparison, Nasution explains that in other countries, bloggers often act as an alternative media, news, and information that does not goes into mainstream media surfaces in blogs.

"Blogs and bloggers in Indonesia are taking roles not as alternative media (well sometimes) but actually as media watchdog, we correct whenever media make a mistake in their reportation and put it in our blogs," said Nasution.

He believes bloggers are better than non bloggers because bloggers are doing something and writing their experience in their blogs, more aware of their surrounding, more opiniated, more confident about their beliefs and in the end more participatives. As a blog motivator in Indonesia, he expects in the future is a generation with qualities that is more comfortable voicing their concerns, take knowledge on issues around them and finally taking actions and not just sitting still.

Regarding the implementation of regulation about Information and Electronic Transaction in Indonesia, he is also mention basically this regulation was developed with good intentions. "I am really hoping that goverment will do the implementation carefully while still respecting the citizens right to express themselves, listen to all the experts and basically do the best," Nasution adds.
