Blue Coat Offers Software for Free

Blue Coat Systems said last week that it will be offering its ProxyClient software free of charge to customers who purchase its ProxySG appliances.

Hailing its ProxyClient as the “first WAN optimization software client with integrated security and control” the software extends integrated application acceleration, Web security and policy control to remote or mobile enterprise users, regardless of location. It includes byte caching, an important WAN optimization technology, and location awareness to optimize application performance for remote users and provides centrally managed Web filtering with anti-spyware and anti-phishing protection.

Blue Coat ProxyClient software will be available in March 2008. Web security and control functionality requires Blue Coat Webfilter installed with licenses for remote users.
