ProCurve Networking, a business unit of HP and a leading provider of enterprise networking solutions, has announced a software update for ProCurve’s ProVision ASIC series of switches – ProCurve Switch 8200, 6200, 5400 and 3500 Series – offering a slew of software features including IPv6 host capability.
In addition to IPv6 host capability, this update also includes a new QinQ feature, allowing customers to build large campus or metro-area Ethernet networks based on IEEE’s 802.1ad standard. Other features include security to protect the Spanning Tree network topology from misconfigurations or malicious attacks.
Improvements in diagnostics enable Remote Intelligent Mirroring to replicate traffic based on a MAC address in addition to VLAN port number and ACL, as well as allow network health analysis by increasing the size of Event Log so that events can be selectively reported based on severity and functional group. Additionally, enhancements in this release make it easier for network managers to configure switches in remote locations and automate IP telephony deployment.
The new software update is available February 1, 2008 at www.procurve.com is free to all existing customers and is part of ProCurve’s value proposition of investment protection which enables its customers to implement advanced technologies cost effectively. |
