Harris Stratex, a supplier of turnkey wireless network solutions has opened its International Headquarters (IHQ) in Singapore.
Considered as “an important strategic milestone”, the IHQ will serve as a global logistics and procurement center, capitalizing on Singapore’s seaport and airport infrastructure. Other functional areas will include day-to-day international operations, finance, contracts and supply chain management.
The company also has plans to establish an R&D centre focused on software development in the 12,500 sq. ft. facility.
Although it is a North Carolina based organisation, over 70 percent of Harris Stratex’s revenue comes from outside North America.
“Our new IHQ in Singapore further demonstrates the commitment of Harris Stratex Networks in meeting the needs of our global customer base,” said Guy Campbell, president and chief executive officer, Harris Stratex Networks.
“It significantly strengthens our global presence and our commitment to being a major player in Asia and adjacent regions.”
The IHQ has reportedly some 12 employees at the moment with a vision to see it grow over 60 employees within the next 24 to 36 months. Majority of these employees will apparently be recruited locally professionals.
Speaking to the press alongside Harris Stratex at the opening, Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB) chairman Mr Lim Siong Guan said that Harris Stratex’s presence is seen as a boost to the competitiveness of Singapore’s position as a wireless technology hub for Asia Pacific.
“The R&D project will certainly build and strengthen critical capabilities for Singapore’s wireless communications sector…the Global Logistics group will add a diverse base of supply chain activities already here,” he elaborated.
“I believe that Singapore’s sophisticated infrastructure connectivity to global markets as well as our availability of skilled ICT manpower will give Harris Stratex a competitive advantage in meeting the needs of its global customers.”
The organisation also let in that it will be increasing its spending to over SGD 12 million per year from the current run rate of SGD 1 million. |
